Abstract:On Fridays, at 9 o clock we organize free walking tour through the city centar of Novi Sad. After the tour you can join to one of our regular full day tours.
Activities:Walking through the down town of Novi Sad
Though not large, Novi Sad is a remarkable city, full of historical details and lovely spots to enjoy. We invite you to hear some stories from its past and present and to savor a bit of its atmosphere which – we are sure – will make you want to explore it in more detail later or return back soon.
We start in front of Magelan Travel agency, in Nikole Pasic street. We will visit to Novi Sad’s Orthodox Cathedral whose flashy interior is a result of its redecoration by the leading fin de siecle artists. Next to it stands the memorable Bishop’s Palace and in front of it the monument to Jovan Jovanović Zmaj, one of the city’s best-loved sons. The pedestrianized street that starts from here bears his name and is teeming with people window-shopping or enjoying the terraces of its cafés.
The street ends at Trg Slobode, city’s central square with its grandiose neo-Gothic Catholic church, an imposing City Hall and many other nice edifices.
Passing several of the modernist architectural masterpieces from the 1930s, we will soon reach Danube Park, the oldest and nicest of Novi Sad’s commons, best known for its small lake with ducks and swans. Pass the Museum of Vojvodina, located in a grand old Courthouse, we arrive to Dunavska Street, a lovely ensemble of 19th century houses of rich merchants.
After this free tour we invite you to join us on the one of our full day excursions from Novi Sad that start at 10:30 o’clock: Fruska Gora and Sremski Karlovci tour
