Tour description:
The tour departs from your preferred location in Belgrade at 10 am.
The first stop is Krusedol monastery in Vojvodina province, 70 km away from Belgrade. It is the best known of 16 orthodox monasteries at Fruska Gora mountain famous for their specific architecture, treasuries, libraries and frescoes. It was built in 16th century by Brankovic family, medieval rulerls of Serbia. Nowadays Krušedol Monastery is the Mausoleum of numerous significant historical persons, boasting graves of despots Brankovic, the Patriarch Arsenije the Third Carnojevic and many more.
After visiting monastery of Krusedol you will proceed to Sirmium archeological site, in Sremska Mitrovica. Sirmium was Roman city, in 294 AD proclaimed one of four capitals of the Roman Empire. It was also a birth place of several Roman emperors. You will hear the whole story about this ancient city while walking through Visitor center and passing by remains of Imperial Palace, and then you will continue to Zasavica.
Zasavica is nature reserve and ethno village in Vojvodina. Preserved authentic landscapes, folklore and cultural-historical monuments, describe Zasavica as unique and complete touristic entirety. Here you can taste Vojvodina’s traditional cuisine along with famous Donkey cheese, the world’s most expensive cheese. It is a crumbly white cheese, popular for its intense flavor and natural saltiness. The ride on a boat is optional. Enjoy spectacular nature with variety of wildlife and endangered species!
The tour lasts 8-10 hours, so arrival to Belgrade will be in the evening. The guide will drop you off at requested location.
