Abstract:

During this two days tour, you will have a chance to experience the Raska region and Ibar Rivwer Valley, which keeps some of the most important monuments. This trip will take you to the past and to some of the most beautiful areas in Serbia.

Tour description:

DAY 1

Departure from Novi Sad at 06:30h in front of parking of Hotel Sajam, and from Belgrade at 08:00h. Our first destination will be Vraćešnica monastery, built in gratitude of survived warriors, after the Battle of Kosovo. This monastery has shared its turbulent history in both Uprisings, but it is specially connected with the Obrenovic Dynasty. This trip takes us through beautiful Šumadija region, the heart of Serbia, to Gruža Lake, where we will have a short break. Continue to Žiča monastery, called „The Home of Holly Salvation“. This seven-door monastery is a foundation of the first Serbian king Stefan The First crowned, built with Saint Sava’s Help. Another short break for photographing in one of the most preserved medieval monuments - Maglič. The highlight of the day will be the visit of Studenica monastery, popularly called „ The Mother of all Serbian churches“. This monastery, which is a foundation of Stefan Nemanja from the end of XII century will take your breath away with its beauty and surrounding nature. Accommodation in resort Ras, the remains of the first Serbian capital. Dinner in a hotel restaurant. Overnight.

DAY 2

After the breakfast, we will start this day by visiting the complex of monuments which are on the World Cultural Heritage list since 1979, Sopocani monastery, the foundation of King Uros I from XIII century. Its frescoes belong to the highest achievements of European art of that time. Next one to visit is Đurđevi stupovi monastery, near Novi Pazar, built by Stefan Nemanja.  The last place to visit is Peter’s Church, one of the oldest churches in Serbia and the place where Stefan Nemanja is baptismal for the second time.  Lunch break in Novi Pazar where you should definitely take the chance and try some of the local meat specialties such as the famous cevapi or mantija, or to have a desert with traditional baklava or kadaif. Back to Belgrade and Novi Sad in the late evening hours.

Notes on dressing

Women and girls up to 12 years old need to have a long skirt during the visit of Đurđevi stupovi monastery. If you forget the skirts or you do not have them, you can borrow them in the monastery.

This trip is realizing for the minimum 35 persons and maximum 50 pearsons in the group. In case of guest cancellation of the trip, YUTA cancellation policy is applied.
