Tour description and activities

Day 1: Belgrade – Sombor – Bački Monoštor – Sombor (207 km)

Arrival in Sombor is scheduled for morning hours, preferably by 10am. We will first enjoy a guided tour of town’s most important sights – Holy Trinity Church, Milan Konjović Gallery, “Fiacre Square” and the Catholic Parish with its famed sundial.

Next we head for Bački Monoštor. Before we continue sightseeing there is a possibility to organize (by previous announcement only) a lunch where lip smacking fish stew made by local cooks will be served. Bački Monoštor is nicknamed “Village on Seven Danubes” since it is surrounded by armlets of this great river from all sides and the only way to approach it is by crossing one of its bridges. Nature reserve, hunting grounds, the Danube – all of this lies around it, allowing visitors to rest or enjoy active holidays. One shouldn’t forget village’s home made food, ethno houses and old crafts that amplify its tourist offer. Here we will visit the ethno house museum of Šokci, one of 25 ethnic groups inhabiting Vojvodina.

We continue to Čarda Andrić, one of the famous lone farmsteads turned into a restaurant. Dating back to the end of the 19th century, it is located in the outskirts of Sombor. All of farm’s buildings are nowadays adapted for visitors and we will first take a look at its ethno rooms and then enjoy their home made brandy, wine or juice while waiting for the dinner to be served. We return to Sombor where we’ll spend the night in Hotel Andrić.

Day 2: Sombor – Bač – Deronje - Kulpin – Bački Petrovac – Beograd (197 km)

After breakfast we head to Bač, a small town with ruins of a medieval castle, Turkish baths and a still functioning Franciscan monastery.

Our journey continues with a visit to Deronje village and their Serbian ethno house and a local gallery hosting the works made by artists visiting their summer camp.

We will next visit Kulpin’s Stratimirović Manor, nowadays partially used by the Museum of Agriculture. Here the ladies in our group can learn how to make one local specialty, and will afterwards even be awarded a certificate.

Bački Petrovac is one of the hubs of ethnic Slovaks living in Serbia, who have been living here for almost three centuries keeping their culture alive. Today, the town is best known for its aqua park but also for its spicy kulen salami. Rich folklore tradition, handicrafts to be seen in a local ethno house as well as paintings in Urbaniček Gallery will explain more about Slovak art and traditions in this corner of Serbia. Our journey continues to Salaš 137 farm restaurant where it is possible to organize sampling of some local culinary delights. Return to Belgrade in the evening hours.
