Tour description:
Departure from Novi Sad at 7h and from Belgrade at 8: 30h.
After about 2 hours drive, we arrive at our first destination - a visit to the Tumane Monastery, located at the foot of the Golubac mountains, surrounded by forest, on the left bank of the Tuman River, which gives the sanctuary a special beauty. Founded in the second half of the XIV century, as the endowment of the Kosovo hero Milos Obilic, it holds the relics of Saint Zosim Tuman, the Sinait Wonderworker, as the greatest shrine. After the visit, we continue our journey to the Golubac Fortress, a beautiful fortress built in the XVI century that belonged to Serbs, Hungarians, Turks, and Austrians throughout its history to all those who ruled the area. Optional boat ride. We take a tour of the Lederata archeological site. This Roman castle was erected in the late I century BC, and its remains are located on a rocky plateau on the right bank of the Danube, downstream of Rama, and fall into the category of cultural monuments of great importance. Its primary function was to protect the crossing of the river, and it is assumed that a part of Trajan's troops here crossed the pontoon bridge into enemy territory. We will then take a ride to Silver Lake, where we will have the opportunity to rest and have lunch, and in return, we will visit the Rama Fort, the oldest atrium fort in Serbia. There is no reliable information about the time of its origin, but it was first mentioned in the 12th century, as a place in which the Byzantine and Hungarian armies clashed. Agri, Byzantines, and Turks were abducted for this fortress. This fort was reconstructed and renovated in 2019, and during the tour, you will hear the story of its origin and the importance it had for the Ottoman Empire. We follow the crossing of the Danube and return to Belgrade and Novi Sad via Deliblatska sandstone, the largest continental sandstone in Europe, with close to 35 thousand hectares.
Return in the late evening.
